Some people enjoy Tokyo during this season might be looking for Halloween in Shibuya, Tokyo.
In Halloween weekend, it’s not official but more people come than usual weekend.
In Japan, it’s called Shibuharo and known for the most chaos time throughout the year.
Why chaos? So many people wearing costumes gather around the scramble crossing and some people are super drunk. Personally it’s fun seeing people show their creativeness, but it’s been problems such as pollutions, loudness and molestation in crowds. And also in 2022, the tragedy many people were injured and passed away during Halloween in Itaewon, South Korea. (May they rest in peace.)
Because of them, in 2023 the headman of Shibuya ward says ” Please don’t come to Shibuya Halloween.”
So if you go there, you need to understand the danger that some drunk people are out of control.
In Ikebukuro, they officially have a Halloween cosplaying event. (Check from here → Halloween in Ikebukuro) In Kanto area Tokyo Disney Resort have their Halloween events, (Check from here → Halloween in TDR)
I grew up in Osaka, so when I was a student, enjoyed Halloween in Universal Studio Japan. (Check from here → Halloween in USJ)
Stay safe and enjoy Halloween in Japan.
See you soon.
